La cascade Biberon / The Biberon waterfall

Monday 24 March, Adeline and me went in the inlands, to walk until the Biberon waterfall.

We needed time to find the starting point of the path, and the photo below shows why... Do you see any path here ?

Ci-dessous, Adeline.

The beginning of the walk was a bit difficult, because it rained a lot, and therefore the path was at first very muddy. We sunk in the mud, and we hesitated to stop and go back ! By chance, the path got better then... Below, this is Adeline.

Regardez mes chaussures !

Look at my shoes !

After the walk, we washed our shoes and ourselves in a river, because we were very dirty !

After this walk, we went to the place called "Grand Etang", a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for meditation...

I wanted to show you a film, but it's impossible to upload it from the place I work.

Pluie tropicale / Tropical rain

These days, it is the hurricanes periode, and therefore the weather is sometimes unpredictable. It's always very warm and damp, but the rain often comes brutally ! And here, when it's raining, it's raining A LOT ! In five minutes, your are dripping wet !

Et soudain...
And suddenly...

Une grosse pluie...
A big rain...

I finally found an accomodation, but I have no water, no bed, no fridge neither crockery. Last night I slept on the floor, it was very comfortable. I filled some bottles with water in order to wash myself a minimum in the morning. And tonight, I have to find some kind soul to lend me his/ her bathroom… At least I have a roof over my head !

La cascade Maniquet / The Maniquet waterfall

Sunday 23 March, with Tony and Adeline, two people I met on the island, we went to have a bath at the bottom of the Maniquet waterfalls, in the North of th island. It was so pleasant to have a bath in a fresh and pure water !

Within the context of my work, I attended a guided tour of Paris Street, in Saint-Denis. This visit was very interesting, and I saw some typical creole houses.

Below is the "artothèque". As you can borrow books in a library, here you can borrow various art works. Interesting, don't you think so ?

I don't have internet, so I publish articles during my breaks at work.

Les débuts... / The beginnings...

Salut !
Ouais ! ça me fera du bien de me poser un peu et de penser à autre chose qu'à mon logement !

Hi ! Finally, an article ! I don't have any internet connection, and I have had many problems concerning accomodation, so I didn't have any time to think about blogging... I spent all my free time solving some problems, and I was also working.
I thus had no time until now to enjoy and to discover the island. But I will show you my first pictures of Saint-Denis and its surrounding, the city where I am; in the North of the island. I also met some people here, and we booked all our week-ends to visit the island ! We wanted to hike to the "Cirque de Mafate" today, but because of bad weather, we had to postpone it.

This afternoon, I will go to the West of the island in order to have a bath in the Sea, and in order to visit. It will be so nice to relax and to think about something else but accomodation !

Départ imminent ! / Imminent Departure !

Hi ! Welcome on my new blog, where, I hope, I will share with you my adventures on the Réunion island ! I tried many bloghosts : I wanted one without any ad. I found one, and after having spent hours on my design, a big ad appeared ! Argh ! I finally decided to use blogspot, because I could integrate a three-columns designs ! Cool !

I will fly away tomorrow... I'm stressed and excited ! My plane will leave from Lyon at 17H50, then I'll take another plane at 21 in Paris, and I will arrive in Réunion at 10H45, local hour. You have to add three hours, taking the French hour as a reference.

I hope I'll quickly have an internet connection. I also hope I'll visit the island as much as possible , even if I go there to work !

I'm worried about my arrival in Réunion, mainly because of accomodation. I met three girls on the internet, and we are trying to rent a house all together. The first week, I will rent a small room with one of the girls, and we will use this week to find a house. If we can't organize it, then each of us will go alone... Ouch ! I will start to work on Monday, it will be difficult to find an accomodation on the same time. On top of that, Sébastien, who lives in Réunion, went to see where the room we rent is, and he told me it's a dangerous and unhealthy place. Reassuring... It's too late, we already pay... Wish me good luck, please !
I hope I'll quickly find a nice accomodation !

In this first article, I also would like to thank Sébastien for his help.
